It's all about the details...

How we launched a Victorian house in Cardiff Bay

When an owner asks us to bring their home to market, the work guests never see matters as much as the photographs they do. In September 2026 we launched a three-bedroom Victorian terrace in Cardiff Bay for its owner. We call it the Cardiff Bay Victorian House, and it shows how a Guesture launch comes together, whether we go on to manage a property in full or hand it to a host who runs it themselves.

The house

It is a Victorian terraced house in Butetown, on the quiet residential side of the Bay. Three bedrooms upstairs, a double, a small double and a single, sleep five, and a pull-out sofa bed sits in the “cwtch” under the stairs. There is one family bathroom with a full-size bath and an overhead shower, a kitchen built around a range cooker, and a private patio garden at the back.

It is a family home with real character. Our job was to present it honestly and to set it up properly from the first night.

Professional photography

We started with a professional shoot, which Guesture commissions and owns: wide shots of every room, and the details that tell a guest what kind of stay this will be. The bay-window living room, the dining table, the range cooker, the espresso machine, the garden.

From the shoot we chose 20 photos for the gallery and captioned each one room by room, so a guest scrolling on a phone always knows exactly what they are looking at.

A listing written room by room

The listing came next, with a search-friendly title and full copy written to answer the questions guests actually ask: how the beds are arranged, where the desks are (there are two, in separate bedrooms), whether dogs are welcome (they are), what the Wi-Fi is like (fast Sky broadband) and what is provided for young children (a travel cot and a high chair).

We walked the routes ourselves before writing a single distance:

  • Mermaid Quay and the Wales Millennium Centre: a five-minute walk

  • Cardiff Bay station: about ten minutes

  • The Principality Stadium, the city centre and Cardiff Central: about twenty minutes on foot

  • The Taff Trail cycle path: one minute from the door

That last line matters. For anyone arriving with a bike, a traffic-free riverside route into the city from the front door is a reason to choose the house, so we made it one of the listing’s selling points.

Pricing, from evidence

Before setting a single rate, we ran a price analysis and a competitor analysis. Nightly rates were then set up on Beyond Pricing, our dynamic pricing tool, so the price follows demand across Cardiff’s calendar rather than sitting at one fixed figure.

Its own brand, and a guest area to match

Every property we launch gets its own logo and its own branding in Duve, our guest platform. For this house that meant a simple Cardiff Bay wordmark in sage green, carried through a personalised, branded guest area with a 15-card digital guide that runs from parking and Wi-Fi to bins, dogs and a local guide.

Guests completed personalised online check-in forms before they arrived. Alongside them we wrote saved replies for the questions every stay brings, so answers are quick and consistent. Parking needed its own process: the street is covered by a residents’ scheme, so we set up a routine to register each guest’s car through the council app before arrival. It is a small thing, and exactly the kind of small thing that shapes a stay.

Distribution

The house launched on Airbnb first. We then added 22 more channels through Rentals United, including Google Travel, HomeToGo and Hopper, and began the set-up for Marriott Homes & Villas, where Guesture holds accreditation. Wider distribution put the house in front of guests who never open Airbnb at all.

The neighbourhood, and the story

We drew up a Local Connections shortlist of 14 nearby businesses. Local Connections is our programme for introducing guests to the independent places around each property, and for giving those businesses a way to reach visitors. We also planned three months of social content, with an Instagram account of the house’s own, and blog content like this post.

What we can do for yours

None of these steps is complicated on its own. What makes the difference is doing all of them, in the right order, before the first guest arrives. It is what we do for every property:

  • Professional photography, commissioned and owned by Guesture

  • Full listing copy with an SEO title, and photos captioned room by room

  • A price analysis and a competitor analysis, and dynamic pricing set up with Beyond Pricing

  • Its own property logo and branding in Duve

  • A personalised, branded guest area with a digital guest guide, and personalised online check-in forms

  • Saved guest replies, and processes such as parking registration

  • Launch on Airbnb and further channels through Rentals United, with Marriott Homes & Villas set-up

  • A Local Connections shortlist of nearby businesses

  • A social content plan, and blog content

There are two ways to work with us. With full management, we run the property for you, adding ongoing guest communication, housekeeping coordination and monthly owner reporting. With a launch package, we do the launch work and you host the property yourself.

You can see the photography, the branding and the full list of launch work on the Cardiff Bay Victorian House page. If you own a property in South Wales, Bristol or Bath, tell us about it and we will suggest which route suits it.
